Taxi driver didnt stop came back 40 mins later to retrieve his mirror, my son was still lying in grass after phoning ambulance and had serious injuries which ended up in him having 5 hour operation to fit plates on leg and arm, driver then went to station and had his car impounded, I was not allowed to see car which was realeased to him yesterday, what would you do in this case as Guards seem to be very lax a daisy dont seem to see that if my son had head injuries he would not have been able to phone ambulance and could have died from internal bleeding, there was a woman who stopped and stayed with him but they still havent taken statement
I am in Ireland where Police are called Guards or Gardai !!!
He is doing good considering his injuries but I am so annoyed that he left my son for dead, only came back to clear any evidence he was there and had no choice but to hand himself in, but still has not even contacted hospital to enquire about sons health

I am really sorry to hear that! By guards do you mean police? If not then please involve the police, if so then write to your MP (or whatever) AND write to the the police complaints commission. The PCC doesn't actually do much, but if a lot of people write in about the same type of problem, then they are technically forced to at least appear to be doing something.

I hope by now the Guards have done something about this terrible situation, in the event they haven't please ring the most senior office or make an appointment to go in and see him and file an official complaint. Could you also contact your local member of Parliament perhaps he/she can do something to help you. Could you ask a lawyer to assist you, many work on a no win no fee basis and your son is certainly entitled to compensation.

I hope your son is recovering and the taxi driver is dealt with promptly! Good luck to you and your family.
